Welcome to the Contemporary
Dental website – we
are really pleased that you’ve
found us!
It's Friday, the sun is shining and we've had another busy week here at Contemporary Dental.
Team News
Simon has been settling into his new study routine. The Implant Diploma Course will keep him busy for the next two years, but he is enjoying the challenge. With Bob as his mentor, he is able to benefit from plenty of "in house" training as well as attending formal lectures each month.
In January, we welcomed three new members to our team. Nicola Williams has joined Robin to provide another day of hygiene care, Kirsty is with us in reception and administration for three days a week and, last but not least, Debbie, our new book keeper, is amazing us with her numerical expertise!
Car parking
With the disruption in Exeter city centre, car parking has been an issue for some of us. We are able to offer parking at the practice to disabled patients only and those with mobility problems, as we have very limited availability which we share with our neighbours. We would really appreciate it if patients who are able would allow enough time to park in one of the many car parks close to the practice. The good news is that the Guildhall car park in the centre of town (about ten minutes walk away) is now open again and there is also the newly opened Isca Car Park (five minutes walk away) at the end of Queens Street, close to the Clock Tower.
April Changes
During April, we are installing new radiology systems and computer software to enable us to produce digital radiographs. The good news for our patients is that, when they need an x-ray, there is a lower exposure to radiation than was previously given. The images are then stored on the patients' computer record, where they can be enhanced and used to explain any treatment which may be needed. Although this type of technology has been available for some time, it is only fairly recently that the quality of these digital images has been comparable to those on traditional x-ray film.
Maintaining our Grade 2 listed building is an ongoing labour of love, and we are also looking forward to freshening up our décor at the end of April, when the whole of the inside of the building will be spruced up with a new coat of paint. We are planning to keep any disruption to a minimum by asking the team from K and L Decorators to work when we have Dentists on holiday so that we have room for manoeuvre. K and L decorated the outside of our building just over a year ago and they did such a good job that we asked them to come back again to brighten us up on the inside!
And Finally!
When new patients come to the practice, some come feeling disheartened and a little low about their dental health - some feel anxious at the thought of needing treatment. It is our privilege to see many of these patients gain in confidence as our highly skilled and experienced dentists restore their smiles. For some there may have been a long course of treatment, for others just a few visits. Our aim for all our patients is that they have healthy mouths with smiles they are proud of, and that with help from our fantastic team of dentists, hygienists and nurses, they can keep it that way! So with Spring in the air - the season of new beginnings - why not come and see us? Let us make the difference.
