The DiagnoDent is a diagnostic instrument which uses a small red laser light to detect decay which may otherwise be invisible. It actually uses the microscopic change of light refraction in the enamel to detect where bacteria are attacking the enamel and changing its structure. It is very useful to detect early decay on the biting surfaces of the teeth.
